Pangea Day

Touted as the world’s first global campfire, mark May 10th, 2008 off on your calendar as Pangea Day. Pangea Day is all about telling and sharing the stories that make us… us. Designed as a planetary multimedia event, Pangea Day will be a broadcast of numerous short films selected from around the world to illustrate our common grounds. This is such a magnificent use of available technology, and I applaud Jehane Noujaim for her brilliant vision and judicious use of her TED award wish.
In exploring the Pangea Day website, you can search for registered events wherever you are, and if there isn’t one, maybe think about setting one up yourself and spread the word. This promises to be a seminal event in many ways, and I am very much looking forward to seeing what short films end up being the ones chosen out of the thousands submitted for this planetary celebration. The countdown has begun for what has the potential to be the largest planetary event our species has organized yet. Will you help unify the continents?
