The Awakening Universe film

Through the auspices of The Pachamama Alliance, Neal Rogin has created a very admirable introduction film to the concept of “The Awakening Universe” as espoused by Thomas Berry, Brian Swimme, and others. Though only 15 minutes in length, it is a veritable whirlwind of emerging perspectives, and is so full of stimulating and inspiring content that it is almost the perfect introduction to such topics. I say almost because I screened it with a hard core atheistic objectivist friend who was very excited at the idea of a secular cosmology, and apparently appreciated the vast majority of the film, but was visibly turned off by the personification of the planet segments. (Through his eyes I couldn’t help but think of Gene Wilder’s “It’s ALIVE!” in Young Frankenstein… way off base I know, but I’ve never denied a strange bent at all.)
All in all this is the best media available to introduce the realm of cosmogenesis and ecozoic perspectives. I have now shared this film with so many people I’ve lost count, and it is always incredibly stimulating, inspiring, and the doorway to provocative conversation.
